Lambert Open to Dobra Deadline Day Loan
Friday, 31st Jan 2020 11:41

Town boss Paul Lambert says he’d consider sending forward Armando Dobra out on loan before this evening’s 11pm deadline if a club were to show interest in the Albanian U19 international.

Dobra, 18, is on the fringes of the Blues squad but seems unlikely to play too much of a part in the remaining months of the season.

“If somebody came in for Dobs, then you’d have to look at it,” Lambert said. “He’s in the same kind of bracket as Idris [El Mizouni, who joined Cambridge on loan last week] with what I think of the two of them.

“Whether something happens later on today, I don’t know, but he’s definitely a good little player, Dobra.”

Town have 12 players out on loan, the majority of them youngsters, which Lambert says will benefit their progress.

“It’s for the development of them and the development of the club,” he said. “If the club’s strategy is rearing its own because it doesn’t have the money to go and majorly buy players unless we’d sold a few guys then that’s the pathway through.

“We have to get those guys playing in men’s football. One or two will adapt to it really well, and one of two might find it difficult, but as I said before, I think U23s football isn’t beneficial for young players.”

On one hand I agree that young players need grounding by doing the rounds elsewhere, but on the other hand, I do fear the bad luck of injury or dip in form of the usual first team regulars will strike if we send out fringe players who end up then being needed but unavailable.
Big gamble, but I'd hope to think that Lambert knows his players needs best.

Loaning him out to the right club for experience isn't a bad idea but we should have a recall clause if possible in case we get injuries. Dobra is quality. I expect many wouldn't agree with me but I'd actually rather see him starting ahead of some of the experienced players, who (without naming names) haven't exactly set the world alight this season. I think he's a talented wildcard well worth taking a gamble on. We've struggled to create chances at times and I think Dobra could add a lot more in that department. Moreover, I think he will have learned from his red card at Accrington. Before he saw red he looked by far our most lively player when coming on from the bench. I actually really like the look of El Mizouni and Dobra. Was hoping they'd both get more involved in the first team action this season. Hopefully we get to see more of them next season.

Why isn't Dobra in the teamsquad instead of JudgeNolan who have been fairly hopeless this season?
