Aston Villa striker on the brink of move to Tranmere Rovers

According to a report from Football Insider, Aston Villa youngster Rushian Hepburn-Murphy is on the brink of completing a move to League One side Tranmere Rovers, with a loan deal between the two clubs agreed and a medical scheduled.

We have covered reports here on The72 over the course of the past few weeks claiming that League One new boys Tranmere Rovers have been looking to bring Aston Villa youngster Rushian Hepburn-Murphy to Prenton Park on loan for the upcoming season.

Now, it has been revealed that the young Villa striker is making his way to Tranmere Rovers to complete a move to the club. The 20-year-old is expected to complete a medical today (Friday) before confirming his arrival. He comes in to add more firepower to the Rovers attack after losing James Norwood to Ipswich Town.

Tranmere have already brought in Stefan Payne from Bristol Rovers and Morgan Ferrier from Walsall this summer, so Hepburn-Murphy will come in to increase the competition in Micky Mellon’s attacking department as they embark on a new season back in the third-tier of English football.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with League Two side Cambridge United, where he scored two goals and provided one assist in 16 games. Hepburn-Murphy has shown his most prolific form in his time with the Aston Villa Under-23s, where he has netted 24 goals in 43 games for the youth side, assisting five times along the way. He has played 17 times for the club’s senior side, making 11 appearances in the Championship
